There’s a reason why natural wood features so heavily in meditative Japanese or calming Scandinavian design aesthetics. The health benefits of being in nature include everything from better memory to improved eyesight.

While it’s not clear whether natural materials in the home induce any of these benefits, it certainly can’t hurt to channel nature indoors. And what better way than to surround yourself with naturally colored wood furniture?

The wood material is flattened, sanded smooth. After that, it’s finished in a proprietary satin wood varnish that fully protects it from moisture, heat, and oily fingers/elbows. Each of our slab furniture goes through 1 week finishing process where 4- 5 coats of Water-Based Polyurethane are applied by hands. This can be applied using Satin, Semi-gloss, Glossy. Currently the most popular and stylish sheen is a satin finish. Satin finish has some sheen, but doesn’t look too glossy. It gives the table both a classic and contemporary feel.

WHY WATER-BASED COLORS AND POLYURETHANE?

1. For better look and feel

Water based polyurethanes are completely clear and will not yellow over time. This is ideal if you want the natural color of your wood to remain constant.

2. Safer for users

Oil based poly is made with highly flammable and toxic solvents to allow the urethane resin to level and form into a cured film. The clean-up process, too, requires exposure to high-odor hydrocarbon solvents now well documented to cause short- and long-term health problems. A well-engineered water based poly usually contains little or no ingredients considered “hazardous chemicals” as defined by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). Likewise, a good water based poly will have significantly lower (up to 50% lower) volatile organic compounds or VOCs.

WHY POWDER COATING STEEL?

Powder coating is a high-quality finish found on thousands of products you come in contact with each day. Powder coating protects the roughest, toughest machinery as well as the household items you depend on daily. It provides a more durable finish than liquid paints can offer, while still providing an attractive finish. Powder coated products are more resistant to diminished coating quality as a result of impact, moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light, and other extreme weather conditions. In turn, this reduces the risk of scratches, chipping, abrasions, corrosion, fading, and other wear issues.

In addition to being durable, powder coating antique colors is an attractive choice due to its uniqueness and timeless style.
